Sean Hannity’s appearance alongside the President at a campaign rally on Monday evening, when he enthusiastically criticized the media and showered President Trump with praise, was “NOT planned,” according to the Fox News host.

Hannity also clarified that he wasn’t targeting his Fox News colleagues in the press pen when he launched into his diatribe applauding the President by calling reporters covering the rally “fake news.”

Hannity was roundly criticized for his behavior at the rally after he vowed on Twitter Monday that he was only attending the rally in order to “cover” it, not campaign with the President.

The tweets follow Fox News’ release of a statement criticizing “talent” who participate in campaign events and calling Hannity’s actions — without naming him — an “unfortunate distraction.”
