The Republican jumped out to an early lead because of the Republican areas that closed their polls on time at 6pm ET whereas several Democratic areas extended their polls by an hour because voters were still in line.

Republicans distrust media and distrust pollsters and anything they view as anti-Trump.

When there is polling error it is likely to be in that red direction. I mentioned that here and elsewhere many times.
