(3,248 posts)The algae AND the Republicans. Expect tourism there to continue to suffer as bilge continues to be dumped in Florida's waterways.

(51,276 posts)They all used darken pictures of Gillum. He's a racist, lying sh*t, like the pig in the WH.

(10,721 posts)That said, I'm sure there are grounds for legal challenges.
But we live in a country where people like Donald Trump, Corey Stewart, Roy Moore, Kris Kobach, Brian Kemp, Dave Brat, Ron DeSantis and others receive millions of votes. I don't know how liberals live in red states. It's hard enough living in the US, and I live in California.

(37,648 posts)I looked for low cost places that were liberal, or at least half and half. I didn't find any. They all seemed to be in the Republican south. I would love to even just visit California, but it's so expensive there, I can't afford to even take a trip there, much less live there. At least going by the cost of living stats I've seen. It's so far away, too. If you look at the blue-red map, most of the middle and south part of the country is red. Which is a bummer.

(14,565 posts)I bet heavily on that race on Predictit. Simple reason: Georgia polling invariably overstates the Democrat. I have emphasized that since joining this site in 2002.
For a long time it was second worse only to Alaska in that regard.
Georgia polling has improved lately in presidential cycles but in a midterm there are never any examples of Georgia polling that doesn't badly overstate Democrats. The model is awful.
Gillum is another matter. I thought he would win narrowly. But GOTV is a farce compared to raw preference, and right now white rural voters have increasing preference for the GOP.
538 had a post tonight indicating that education was the pivotal factor in Florida. The counties with people largely without college degrees voted for DeSantis while counties with more educated voters went for Gillum. It was the same with Trump in 2016.

(10,721 posts)I keep hoping Arizona, Georgia and Texas will all turn blue, but I keep getting disappointed.
