Let that sink in and remember that DeSantis was wearing a white hood throughout the election. He never once hid who he was. Not once.
My heart is breaking listening to his speech.

(42,278 posts)He ran such a great campaign. DeSantis ran as the racist he is.
We worked so hard for Gillum. My heart is broken.

It hurts, a lot.
I am not Florida. Yet I am heartbroken.

(2,897 posts)We're for the most part expected to be civil, understanding, and forgiving to racists. It's a dynamic similar to the Kavanaugh hearing where the victim was only allowed to be poised while the rapist got to display emotions.

(659 posts)A racist scumbag who was crying and squirming on stage against one of the wittiest and charming politicians I've witnessed should have gotten mollywhopped in the election.
But once again, we must remain calm, civil and appreciative for even being able to participate.
This feels like a heavily symbolic, archetypal triumph of Evil over Good in the worst possible way. Between this and Cruz's victory, it feels like our best and brightest were vanquished literally by their very worst.
Who in their right fucking mind would vote for Cruz? Desantis is even worse, I can never return to my home state with such human filth in command.
I got nothing, not tonight. I just want to scream and break shit right now.
Warmest and well earned congratulations to the House elected, but these two races were where my heart and hopes had lain. Hopefully the coming day might full this loss somewhat, but I doubt it.

Evil over good indeed
