It's those Yankees and immigrants that fuck everything up there.

LOL, my Republican dad lives in Florida, and he rages that all the transplants from the north vote Democratic!

I thought so in 2016 and think so now....I remember watching the returns in 2008 and 2012 and Obama started with an early lead, it got close when the rural areas came in but he still was ahead, and then when Broward and Miami-Dade came in he won

But in 2016 and tonight, the Dems were in the lead early, but when the rural areas came in the Rs took too big of a lead where Broward and Miami-Dade could not close the gap

Far from a blue wave, we even lost a senate seat there. Lost the races polls predicted we should have won.

But taking back the House will be catastrophic to Trump and the new GOP. And in two years they will be defending twenty-one senate seats. Also, with the House under dem control I think GOP senators will be less brazen in their voting. They are goingto have to negotiate.

But yea, the Florida results were a real bummer.

My guess is older white voters were a large part of the GOP victories here

That and some effects of voter suppression like what happened in miami with voters being turned away

Been no Dem elected Gov since 1994

It is so disheartening and shocking. Should have known that about 4-5% of the people who said they were voting for a black candidate in Florida are lying.

he was a republican at the time but he did all he could to help make sure the elections went well and everyone who wanted to vote was able to do so.

Obama won in 2012 also but by less than a point. plus i think Romney's religion turned off some right wingers to win.

It takes the joy out of winning the House for me. I have 2 Trumps to deal with now.

It was a Herculean effort. I expected it to be close. I don't know what else could have been done. Turnout was high, but still not enough.

At the very least, I expected Bill Nelson to keep his senate seat at the very least.

My state, where about half the population are democrats, are represented in the senate by two republicans. It's mind-blogging to me.

They have increased rural turnout while also pummeling Miami-Dade enough to keep the margin low enough for the rural counties to overcome.

I live in Miami-Dade and read about that GOP strategy many years ago. They thought they were underperforming. In the past 4 years it is surreal how much it has changed. I now see red canvassers in my suburban area several times per week.

Democratic outreach sucks in this state. My apologies to anyone here who works Florida GOTV but I've been back in this state nearly 10 years and that is plenty to make a judgment. I was never contacted once by Gillum or Nelson. Not once despite being a registered Democrat since late 2008 here.

Contrast to Donna Shalala, who emailed me every day and texted me and called me both in the primary and the general election.

I'm convinced if the people who ran the Shalala campaign ran the Gillum or Nelson campaign also, they would have won. Shalala was a lousy demographic fit for FL-27 but she defined Salazar very well and also herself very well. By far the most moronic thing I read or heard this cycle was that Donna Shalala was running a poor campaign.

I'm glad I profited financially on Predictit

What might interest you Floridians is that a lot of people who phone-banked Floida were farmed out from the Texas Democratic Party. I did some phone-banking this time, but I did it for Beto O’Rourke in Texas.

We did have success in rousing voters, howbeit not enough to overcome the Rethugs. I work as a grunt, not as a precinct captain. We saturated the ground this time. We not only called, we block-walked. On the last day of campaigning, we not only phone-banked but we also texted using an app called Hustle. Texting from people you know is reputedly highly effective.

We are learning, But we are trying to get up from the ground where we’ve been since 1994.

Good luck next time.

Along with 44% saying Gillum was too liberal

Most maddening state in the country and I happen to live here. It is absolutely winnable but we fall slightly short time and again.

I know one thing: Steve Schale needs to throw out his old models and expectations in the Florida rural counties. Schale was a joke tonight. He basically went silent at 8 PM and was never heard from again. I know you are stunned but give us something.

I can't blame the people for this, when we could very likely have been hacked. So, that's what we have. No way to know the real truth, at least right now.

Look what Abrams is going through when without all the stealing that already went on, she would've cleared it, nicely.
