If a great candidate like Beto cannot win in my state, I really see no point in working for political change here. I think my efforts for change will be better served somewhere else: feeding the hungry, advocating for children in the justice system, etc. I am done with politics. I want my volunteerism to directly impact people. Pretty sure no one gives a big swan dive about my decision but there it is.

(6,474 posts)we have been competitive in a statewide election for the first time in more than 2 decades. There are reports of even more downstream wins downstream in Texas state elections. Time is on our side with demographic changes

(171 posts)the elephant is vote fraud. And it's been around for a while, but no one is allowed to point to it.

(11,541 posts)Republicans have been cheating for years and getting away with it. Theyve stolen two presidential elections! We all need to work for election integrity and making it easier to vote, as well as addressing voter suppression, malfunctioning and hackable voting machines & gerrymandering. Then, outstanding candidates, like Beto, will start winning. Dont give up yet. I would suggest redirecting your focus. I predict Beto will rest for six months or so & then start campaigning for Cornyns seat. You wont want to miss out.

(2,339 posts)Beto not winning casts a shadow over the entire election for me. You have every right to be upset especially as it's clear you worked for his campaign. I'll just hold off on giving or receiving condolences for Beto's loss.... Hurts too much

(47,465 posts)but I remember when the "pundits" thought that, perhaps, next time. And to see him coming within winning, I don't think that many neutral observers saw it. But, perhaps I am mistaken.

(42,770 posts)and positive man can't go to all places and not win....against the most hated man in DC....there is no hope for Texas. It will stay in the Wingnut dark ages for a very long time.
