But I expect that some of this is just an artifact of gerrymandered state seats after 2010 redistricting. Having a (D) governor may help when it comes time for the 2020 census and redistricting but there will need to be a real concerted effort in there to work it in the D's favor in 2020 or get some type of "fair districting" thing going (maybe by having a ballot question).

Wed Nov 7, 2018, 11:12 AM

But when 2010 came around and Dems sat it out, the GOP came barreling in and took control of government at every level, thus overseeing the census redistricting (both state and federal levels), and sealing our fate for the next 8 years.

We are slowly clawing our way out of that. And this means that if there are governors up next year (2019) or in 2020, we need to do all in our power to get some more of those positions and get more seats in our legislatures if needed, so that we can control the census redistricting that control our fate for the following 10 years.

all the while, I believe Walker was down only 1,500 votes or so at one point right before the absentee ballots were counted (at which point the race was more or less over).

What was only supposed to be an hour wait (to count the absentees), was one of the more nerve-wracking moments of last night/this morning. Worth it!

I know you are tuckered out but so valuable.

My contribution was looking for local candidates yard signs after being told by some “democrat committee chair” that “research tells us signs are not considered the best use of money” even tho they make us pay for them. Incidentally, all local candidates lost. Gerrymandering still rules.

And once again, Wisconsin is a 47%-47% state. Working out that 3 or 4% to win is very hard work. You and yours did it.

Good Ole Wisconsin. On the way back.

Sure, Democrats took the governorship with Evers defeating Walker but the Republicans remained firmly in control of the state legislature and senate. In Congress, 4 out of our 7 representatives are Republican and that did not change. Tammy Baldwin held her senate seat but our other senator is Republican Ron Johnson.
So at best it might be claimed that Wisconsin is purple but it is by no means Blue. And Tony Evers strikes me as the kind of newly elected governor who could be defeated by a strong Republican candidate in 4 years.

Wisconsin had a Republican trifecta

Tuesday we got a Dem Gov, but on the state level....I am talking about who makes the laws.....Assembly is 63/36 Republicans ...Senate is 18/15 Republicans....

And as soon as the election was called Vos the Majority Leader became Kathy Bates to Evers's James Caan....it is ugly already.

But I suspected that his only political interest was in running against Johnson in 2016 to get revenge for the loss of his senate seat. Now after his loss again to Johnson I think that Feingold is done for good in Wisconsin politics.
I think he could have beaten Walker in 2014 though.
