From what I heard, the Trump group played the "Caravan" card very well. Not that all people are prejudiced against outsiders. But the news media and the other propagandists characterized the group as an "invasion." It scared people who were already worried about their place in the culture and economy. If anybody was financing that group, it was probably the Trump team. I often heard that Democrats were in favor of "open borders" which, of course, is not true.

(3,344 posts)The media should have laughed and ignored this story. The press ignored the 1001 horrible things Republicans have done in the last two years.
It was the same with Clinton's emails and Foundation. Those were bullshit stories that the press focused on.
Every day the press talks about what Republicans want to talk about.

(16,817 posts)Blackburn ran an ad that was so over the top and nasty that it was laughable, but people must have believed it....it feature a quote from Bredesen that said the caravan was mostly families and not a "threat to our security", follow by "Too Liberal for TN". I suppose having some measure of humanity and compassion is now "too liberal"
