....1,000 seats in state legislatures over the last ten years.
Guess what? In ONE NIGHT under DNC leadership Democrats won 318 seats and still counting.
Democrats also gained 7 governorships and won control of 7 state chambers.

(41,971 posts)Weve learned how to use grassroots organizations combined with social media. I had more canvassers at my door that I ever have. We know the momentum is with people of color and womenespecially Black women. It was a great night

(22,912 posts)The Democratic Party leadership is fully engaged and increasingly effective. But credit is also due to groups like Indivisible, and to all the incredible grass roots activist organizing efforts taking place all across the nation, including the Women's March organizers, Move On, the student organizing against gun massacres, etc. etc.

(4,035 posts)55% of votes for the Senate, and 59.5% of the votes in the House went to Democrats. We need to change the system, that is obvious, but until then, we need to work our butts off to overcome that geographic disadvantage, yes, but for heaven's sake, Texas has become a battleground state. Texas! The Democrats won the Texas school board - do people even understand how important that is for the future fight?
It sucks that we didn't win the Senate, but we didn't really have a chance to, and it really highlights where we need to put in additional effort in the future - we need to win every secretary of state in the South and the rust belt. Kemp won because he could cheat with impunity, and we need to stop that in its tracks. The governorships and the state chambers? Do people realize how close the Repukes were to convening a Constitutional Convention? They were f&%¤ing one state short - now they're 8 states short!
We've managed to keep the wolf at bay enough that we can mount a proper fight now. It isn't over. We need to continue fighting, and we need to fight harder, and we need to start tomorrow. Today people can rest, but if we want to stop America from becoming Nazi Germany completely, we need to start fighting again tomorrow. But we've managed to give ourselves some breathing room with the bleeding fantastic work people have done for this election, and that is awesome!

(31,261 posts)That should be frontpage news. That School Board determines the composition of most textbooks used in public schools around the country. A god cult had seized control for years and were pushing creationism as science and working to force that into science textbooks. There are other things that they did. Glad to see Dems now have control, back to sanity.

Hmmm. Its always the women. No one points out that Sanders is old and asks him to pass any torches. No one said Reid was too old.

(67,782 posts)....an answer, if they support Pelosi or a younger Speaker. Damn, these new electees' heads are probably spinning from the election last night, and they have to decide on a Speaker within hours of being elected? Ridiculous.

You don't throw neophytes into the battles that are to come. A strong experienced hand is needed. Hopefully, she will mentor youngsters that want to assume party leadership roles soon.

My complaint was when they stopped that.

(31,261 posts)They hate the idea of a Joe Manchin, even as he is the only type of Dem that wins in his state. A Dem from North Dakota or Utah isn't going to be like a Dem from California or Massachusetts, but all of them are vital to working majorities. The far left believes that a flaming liberal can win anywhere, a belief that is as untrue as it is unwise.
