7. At age 85, don't underestimate how dangerous falls can be for RBG.

Even if they are not fatal they could end her career on the Supreme Court.

Those Republicans who did not like Trump but voted for him anyways because the Supreme Court and other judicial appointments were important to them and who didn't want Hillary Clinton making them have made out like bandits so far and it could get better for them. If only more on the Left had been as pragmatic in casting their votes in the 2016 presidential election, or voted at all, imagine how different our country would be today.

With 2 years left in his term, Trump could have the opportunity to make the Supreme Court solidly conservative for up to a generation not to count all of the other federal judicial positions he has filled. And filling all of those positions has been a goal of the GOP for a long time so even if they are voted out they will still wield some power.

at 85, any injury is serious and potentially life-threatening. I hope and pray she recovers, not just because of the importance of her voice on the court, but as a human being who is still very full of life.

It would be a cruel irony if Cheeto were the one to appoint her successor. Makes me cringe thinking about it.

RBG fucking knew that the window to replace her with a liberal justice was narrow and might close in the next election, and she pointedly refused to retire back when Reid still ran the Senate, even though she was already pushing 80.

Kennedy, meanwhile, deliberately timed his retirement perfectly. He walks away in good health with his hand picked successor in place and the country maximally fucked.
