It aired last night. They had gone into some sterile wealthy retirement communities for interviews.
There were nothing but ignorant, well-off, elderly, overweight white women running around campaigning for Scott and DeSantis. You'd think they were selected by a casting agency, that's how uniformly they resembled each other. They were spouting things they heard on Fox Noise or from Trump himself. They had most of their facts wrong, and lived sheltered lives where no one was ever going to tell them so.
The German TV report made no judgments, of course, but it left no doubt as to how they felt about the people they were portraying. I'm also quite sure the Republican women in the report, if they had seen it and understood German, would have found the report as flattering as we found it disgusting. And therein lies the true nature of our uphill battle.
If a former KKK activist sees an objective report on his former activities and feels pride instead of shame, then we have a problem as a nation.

(54,268 posts)It is a significant, vocal minority that either doesn't or chooses not to. McCaskill, Heitkamp and Donnelly all lost in rural states where a huge portion of the voters watch Fox Noise exclusively and actually believe what they hear.
It's one thing to watch Bugs Bunny cartoons all day, It's another to then go out and mark your ballots for Elmer Fudd for your US Senator.

(29,026 posts)Take it from a former Film Major.. There are few, if any, truly "objective" documentaries.
The deliberate selection of one narrow demographic -- one they knew would present poorly -- is their "judgement"

(54,268 posts)They made no judgments in their commentary. They didn't have to, of course.

(19,148 posts)at a fairly good rate by the grim reaper. Their husbands have mostly expired and the girls are feeling their oats. Of course they adhere to the same old propaganda outlets they watched when their husbands were alive. You don't change horses in the middle of the stream.
More young people voted in Florida than ever before, and they made a difference. Maybe more of a difference than they'll ever know by the time the recalls are finished.
