We have a total of 100 US senators, but with the election results there is one missing.
Current midterm results:
Dems - 46
Repub - 51
Indep - 2
My math says 99. Where is the other one?
I am using the election results from The Guardian:

(11,949 posts)They had 3 candidates running. None received a majority of the votes.
There will be a runoff between the top 2.
We aint winning this one.

(9,862 posts)Mississippi law says you have to get 50% or more to win and nobody got over 50% in the elections so they will have a runoff election between the top 2 vote getters. Most states do not have that requirement.
