I don't think anyone has ever liked this guy because of his *merits* in any conventional sense of that word. They like him because he shits on liberals. They like him because he shits on political orthodoxy. They like him because he is publicly and unashamedly corrupt, and trying to corrupt the rest of the government under the ironic banner of "drain the swamp". A few might have voted for him solely for strategic reasons (e.g. supreme court appointments) but I don't believe any of those people still approve of him now.

People who support dump now aren't people who take a rational or sober approach to politics. They are people who revel in cruelty and stupidity. They are moronic vandals who cheer as dear leader trashes our institutions and turns meetings with our allies into an episode of "ow my balls".

Next time we hear about "bipartisanship" or "reaching across the aisle" we should remember this and shove it in the face of the compromise mongers. Dump should be the last nail in the coffin for the republican party's political legitimacy. The proper way to deal with a party of destructive imbeciles isn't to compromise with it. You need to take away the sharp objects and remove it's capacity to hurt people.
