I'm not much of a golfer and I rarely encounter links style courses with significant tall grass roughs. Those roughs are a royal pain to deal with and are best avoided by staying in the fairway.

There are lots of pictures of Trump in really tall roughs in Scotland and elsewhere. He must know by now how to escape that grass, but I am surprised it is using that club. Hard to tell, but that looks like maybe a hybrid 3 wood. I would probably be trying some type of wedge.

It's pretty easy to figure out. His helo did not want to fly in the rain, which meant he would have to drive to and from the cemetery, probably at least a few hours in the car. If he did that he would have no time to get in his round of golf yesterday.

Faced with this decision, Trump chose golf over honoring the soldiers of WWI. Case closed.
