They didn't get him on murder and racketeering...it was the money that got him.
The federal authorities became intent on jailing Capone and prosecuted him in 1931 for tax evasion, which was at that time a federal crime; the prosecution was a novel strategy. During a highly publicized case, the judge admitted as evidence Capone's admissions of his income and unpaid taxes during prior (and ultimately abortive) negotiations to pay the government taxes he owed. He was convicted and sentenced to 11 years in federal prison. After conviction, he replaced his defense team with experts in tax law, and his grounds for appeal were strengthened by a Supreme Court ruling, but his appeal ultimately failed. -Wikipedia
*I believe this how they will get Trump as soon as he is not POTUS anymore.* Everyone else in his circle will be indicted on the Russia thing and lying to the feds. They won't get Trump on the Russia thing but will get him on the taxes money laundering and fraud

(52,164 posts)i think the con man will never stop conning.
first, he will delay a long time.
second, he will claim a medical illness to justify staying out of prison.
third, he will claim he doesn't have the money to pay any taxes owed.
between his status as former president and the complexity of his finances and his expensive lawyers, he'll be able to delay things for a long, long time.
he's already an old man. i have little hope of seeing him inside a prison, sadly.
best i think we can hope for is for him to be sentenced to house arrest in one of his gold-plated mansions.
