Watching "The Dark Charisma of Adolf Hitler" on Netflix

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2522324/

No one else so changed the state of the world and left behind such a wake of ruins as Adolf Hitler. Yet crucially, the way in which Hitler led the Nazi party has not received the attention that it deserves - how and why so many people followed Hitler, ultimately to the destruction of their own country.

Can’t help but wonder if our Twitler watches this repeatedly as a How To video....

2. Someone has surely already read Goering's Nuernberg interview to him

“Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war: neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or fascist dictatorship, or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peace makers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

For that matter, Cheney probably had this engraved on a marble slab by his bedside while he was VP. Bannon, too.

A lot of similarities there to, though berlisconi seems to have more charisma that trumpft. berlisconi also went into politics to avoid prosecution for financial crimes.

I remember years ago hearing about the hitler speeches on the bedside table - creeped out about trumpft ever since. Prior to that I just thought he was strange.

4. Hitler was inspired by our Confederacy and Jim Crow laws

And Trump does seems to love his Confederate generals.

I think that we need to confront our own uniquely American original sin.

Trump is Jack Torrance in The Shining.
One more iteration of the overseer, crushing brown bodies and his own women and children.

Forever.

... and the similarities with Trump did not escape our notice. I think, in many ways, Trump IS using Hitler as a model.
