House Democrats plan to push forward on a probe of whether President Donald Trump played a role in hush payments to two women in 2016 who alleged decade-old affairs with the then-Republican presidential nominee, a Democratic aide on the House Oversight Committee told NBC News.

Democrats are set to regain the House majority early next year, which will provide them the ability to subpoena documents and witnesses as they take charge of the lower body of Congress' investigative-minded committees.

In September, Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, requested that then-White House counsel Donald McGahn and a top Trump Organization executive provide all documents and communications related to reimbursements made by Trump or the Trump Organization to Cohen for the hush payments.

1. Not much doubt. I suspect most white wingers know he did too. However, I don't think any of them

will care. Voters knew he was a cad and likely rapist, but still elected him. That's the problem, as long as a significant portion of voters don't care, Congress will do nothing. State trials aren't really a viable option because one would never find a jury to convict him (it might be 11-1 or 10-2, but that ain't a conviction). Too many trumpsters out there.

I'm not even sure if most people would care if video were found of trump paying Putin to kill Americans, lie to Americans, etc.

6. Clinton's offenses and TrumPutin's offenses are not equivalent

Platitudes have no bearing on the felonies that Donald J. Trump has committed.

Neither do false equivalences. This is not a matter for voters or media. This is a matter for law. At the very least, Trump and the GOP-stacked SCOTUS will be revealed for what they are and then it will become a matter for voters.
