House Dems plan to investigate Trump targeting of CNN, Washington Post: report

After taking back control of the House, Democratic lawmakers are reportedly planning to launch an investigation into President Trump's attacks on some media outlets.

In a new interview with Axios, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said that it is "very squarely within our responsibility to find out" whether some of Trump's actions targeting CNN and The Washington Post are an abuse of White House power.

Schiff said that the panel is likely to look into Trump urging the postmaster general to double shipping rates for Amazon, which is owned by Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos.

"This appears to be an effort by the president to use the instruments of state power to punish Jeff Bezos and The Washington Post," Schiff told Axios.
