Years ago I was a field investigator and operated off the William James model that we are creatures of habit and the Fritz Perls concept of the Gestalt, that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. These models worked for me because I had about a 90 percent or more success rate in my investigations that held up in the state circuit court. That is why I am becoming aware that something is seriously going on with Trump. His disastrous trip to Paris and his total lack of involvement in the Veterans' Day events tells me that he is becoming completely dysfunctional and that something major is going on or is imminent in happening. I can only speculate what that might be, but I do believe he knows something that has caused him to retreat as much as possible into his man-cave. And what will the Republicans do if he gets worse and has a total breakdown? The 25th Amendment is a gigantic hurdle to overcome so I don't believe that is an option. Any thoughts on this would appreciated. I do feel Trump's days are numbered. His behaviors appear to indicate that and he knows it.

(202 posts)His behavior is odd but how can you tell. He is always strange.
But he certainly is stranger than usual. It is like he really doesn't care anymore. He even went off on Theresa May when she called to congratulate Trump on his mid-term election wins.

(1,376 posts)There's something happening here...
1) Cohen is in DC;
2) Mueller's staff was working today (federal holiday);
3) Whitaker's public statements regarding recusal;
4) McSally conceding;
5) Scott and Kemp backing down;
6) Corsi's hissy fit;
7) Trump flying to Paris, but missing the public events he was allegedly there to attend;
8) Rumor about Nielsen being fired, but Kelly balking; and
9) Trump and Pence hunkered down today, rather than in public at Arlington, Walter Reed, wherever (really, showing up somewhere on Veteran's Day is Politics 101, especially for Pubs who never served)...
Corsi was way over the top. I laughed my head off all the way through the story at the NY Daily News. Histrionics. His life is ruined. Seriously, if you haven't read this, it's a great source of amusement:

Good list. I agree, something is up.
Maybe it's just as simple as there's a new sheriff in town.

Lyrics
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's s time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

(155 posts)After his last rally in the US before heading to France, he elected to stay in a local hotel rather than flying directly back to Washington as he normally does. Trump hates staying in strange beds.
Melania let him hold her hand as they descended the steps of AF1 upon arrival in France.
Skipped WW1 cemetery on Saturday.
Did not walk up the length of Champs Elysee with other world leaders. Instead he was driven to a spot closer to the dias and only walked (slowly) a short distance.
Skipped visiting Arlington cemetery on Veteran's Day.
Won't admit to being ill because of the many times he called Hillary "weak".

(243 posts)I think you're on to something. It could be both mental and physical with both collapsing on him. Perhaps the 25th Amendment isn't that far off after all. Thanks for the input. This is also running parallel with other posts about odd behaviors going on with RW media. I'd say it may be just days or at most two weeks away before this breaks out into the open.

(54,328 posts)I don't think it is a stretch at this point to hazard the speculation that his ego is more powerful than his sense of self-preservation. If thee is a legitimate medical report on his condition, we can be quite confident that no part of it that reveals any weakness will ever reach the pubic's ears.
Trump would rather go out to the cheers of the MAGgots than to the silent scorn of a base betrayed.
Arkansas Granny
(31,513 posts)could take a lot out of a person his age. He sometimes did 3 rallies a day. We know he's out of shape and that medical report he released was a total sham.
We've also noticed that his makeup has become more and more orange in the last few weeks. It's not hard to imagine that he has a serious medical issue happening.

If he is just pouting and angry about the election and the fact that he didn't get his military parade, and if he feels cornered by the fact he will now have oversight, he will do something horrible like start a war to distract us and get the country to like him again. Or he will rile up his base to get out there with their guns and punish us.
If he is sick, we may not have to worry about such a thing.

(22,023 posts)In the wider view, Trump's life of corruption is percolating upwards and into broader public view. He has tremendous pressure from many directions and all of the causes are dire. I love that he must hate his life!
ETA: I've made this point previously so pardon me for repeating it: The most stupid thing that Trump ever did was to run for president. He had no idea that his entire life would eventually be revealed. Had he simply continued his life as it was, he would have been able to continue all of his sleazy activities and "businesses." By the end of this saga, I believe he'll be ruined. He's an idiot.
NJCher
(35,644 posts)Because he is so focused on himself, he doesn't see the broader picture that the lives of public figures are scrutinized. They are particularly scrutinized when the figure is a major d&*ck, so he has the double whammy going for himself here.
I agree that by the end of this saga, he will be ruined. I look forward to that day and will have a toast to honor his demise.

it could be something along those lines. He got an ultimatum from his handler and knows he can't deliver now that we control the house. Would not surprise me a bit if Putin releases some or all the dirt/traitorous actions he has on our chump in chief very soon.
As for all the right wing nut bars being quiet...
they are all huddled together trying to figure out how to spin the coming revelations from both Putin and Mueller so that A: THEY aren't held responsible and B: can figure out a way to spin this to the mindless trumpsters so that they can still maintain a modicum of power/influence.

(11,885 posts)And wouldn't be surprised if with everything closing in on him and his gang he's cracking, and his health is taking a toll on him now. Wouldn't be shocked if he knows its already all over with , and he and his family are facing serious jail time. Criminals always get depressed right before they know it'll be over. Bernie Maddoff was like that too knowing he was done. He have a few more fits but i think too many know now what has taken place , and he can't stop it from exposing him fully as a treasonous fraud. Now its just a matter of time .

(31,261 posts)If republicans keep propping him up as he degrades more, a point will come when they can't hide him, like 2020 campaign stops and debates with the democrat. I want him in the 2020 race, I want him to fall down and chew the floor at debates, while barking like a puppy, I want that ALL beamed into the living rooms of the assholes that voted for him in 2016. At his campaign stops, I want him saying such insane shit that even his formerly adoring maggots will be looking around for a straightjacket for him.

(3,836 posts)might be a true end game and that trump's panic and desolation are far more profound and extreme than anyone discerns right now.
trump may not be fully aware of his deepest feelings yet, but I think he is becoming fatalistic about how everything will end. He may now have the mindset of a vaguely self-aware animal who suspects he is completely cornered and will finally recognize irrevocably there is no way out.
He cannot resign, he cannot allow himself to be impeached or arrested, he cannot back down. He knows he is losing control and once it is gone he will never get it back. Perhaps he finally accepts that his base is useless because the mid-terms rubbed his face in it. He cannot continue to function if the unabridged truth of himself as the terrified, infantile "worst president ever" is allowed to corrode his manufactured and zealously guarded self-delusion.
He is beginning to comprehend the extent of his own personal deficiencies and is most likely extremely frightened that his innate weakness is certain to be revealed. He is a malignant narcissist who is cornered and desperate.
IMHO, the people near him need to be considerably more diligent and watch him very closely. He is not the kind of creature who will take himself out alone.
