never liked Trump and wish they had one of their own in the White House. I think it's also clear that months ago they designated Kasich as most likely to succeed against Trump. It may be a fool's errand but do they have any other options?

reason trump got in was because the republicans had so many candidate running for the nomination, and they refused to get out earlier, and thus killed off the ones that had a viable chance to beat trump

That isn't going to happen in 2020 with the republicans

The Democrats can actually run into a similar issue if they have too many candidates running in 2020.

Ideally no more than 5 in my view, which should provide enough choices within the party

I don't see that cult abandoning Trump for Kasich.

That we may see 20+ candidates running for the Dem nomination in 2020 does worry me. I hope many drop out before, or at least right after, Iowa.

Of course, I also wish Iowa didn't kick things off. I wish for major changes to the way our primary is conducted but that's a whole other discussion.

and only do for some of their political agenda. SC most obvious example. Just look at the Republican leadership in Congress. Most are very quiet about trump. They don’t say anything bad about trump, but they don’t say anything good either

As for your second point, the more candidates the Democrats have the better, that is a quick way to end up with a divided party, and hurting us in 2020

This report says 43% of the republicans want trump to be challenged in the primaries. That us pretty large for sitting president belonging to your party, and I suspect it may be even higher

As for Trump, his approval rating among Republicans is about as high as any predecessor ever.

It'll either bury Kasich or tear their party in half.

I'll take either one.
