It is the "impeachment clause".
Will we ever see a president impeached again?
If Congress cannot impeach and convict under the present circumstances, will it ever happen again?
Republicans point to the Bill Clinton impeachment as the model that proves impeachment fails. But, the difference between Bill Clinton and Donald Trump is like night and day. The circumstances are not the same and should not be used for comparison.
The Executive has grown so powerful in the minds of many in the Legislature that our country has put itself into a situation where it presents a great threat to our country. The Congress needs to take back the power for the people. No one person, especially one that is mentally incapacitated, should hold so much power over our survival.

(38,958 posts)I do not find it to be at all obsolete. It is difficult to accomplish and I believe just as amending the document, it should be so. I would remind you that the impeachment process does not only apply to the president but also to other offices.

(52,116 posts)the problem has always been that a house is very reluctant to impeach a president of the same party, so much so that it's never happened, even counting the near-impeachment of nixon.
ironically, when clinton was impeached the conventional wisdom was that impeachment was being reduced from an important power that would be used very rarely to a trivial annoyance that would be routinely used.
