This article from 'The Progressive' is reporting concern about Rep. Eliot Engel supporting far right policies.
I was wondering if DUers know anything about him?
The article says he has views closer to republicans than the majority of Dems. He supports Trump on the Iran deal withdrawal. He does not support the US withdrawal from Yemen and Afghanistan. So, why would he be eyed to Chair the committee?

It sounds like he is in support of war, and this concerns me. I would like to see the Democratic Party move the US away from so much military and involvement in war.

(26,060 posts)but Engle happens to be voting the way his constituents want him to vote. His constituents were against the Iran deal. I know it's heresy to the far left to actually represent your constituents when it goes against what the far left thinks should be done but that's his job.

(10,500 posts)Just because Schumer and Engle were against the deal that doesn't mean their constituents were.
I have yet to see polling data that backs that claim up.

(26,060 posts)from NY. If they were pissed about it, why didn't any primary candidate or the republican take them on that issue? It was because they knew better who their constituency was. Their being against the Iran deal was exactly what those voters wanted. If you want to prove I'm wrong, knock yourself out and come up with data saying otherwise. I'm a NYer and know already.
