...if Mueller was fired?
Could Mueller be part of the Commission to continue the investigation?
Trump and the Republicans have been all over Mueller's ass since the day he took the job. It is worse now than it has ever been.
Could a bi-partisan Commission take the evidence found so far and continue to investigate and still have subpoena power?
What would be the drawback to having a Commission of seven people, including Robert Mueller, continuing to investigate the Russian influence in the last election?
One plus that I could see is that it would not be a creation of the Executive Branch so they could not be fired by Donald Trump or any of his hacks.
What would prevent this from happening?

(52,118 posts)Congress can investigate, subpoena, and hold hearings.
But they can't indict, they can only refer matters to prosecutors and hope they choose to indict. Donnie's doj could simply say nahhh. Of course that only relates to federal crimes, they can't stop state prosecutors.
The real problem is that congressional investigations are often circuses for show, not methodical investigations to build cases leading to convictions. Congress may cut deals with witnesses or criminals just to make the show look good, which is how north and poindexter got away with it.
