(22,756 posts)I was not ready; this is way too early... it started earlier this week with 8 inches and COLD... -0 wind chill... the new snow will start here later tonight and fortunately for me I can stay in if I want... already told work (outside work) I probably won't go out this weekend... I really hope all those who have to be out can stay safe...

(31,798 posts)Stopped about an hour ago - another squall at daybreak. Probably done until January.
That said - I moved here from the great lakes in January 2006 - I don't remember this ever happening in this manner except for 12/20/2009 before Christmas.
A few year ago in Christmas Eve my patio temp was 78 at 7:30 at night. We grilled the seven fishes for Christmas eve dinner that year!
This is what climate change looks like. Erratic weather.

(268,885 posts)only to see snow on the ground. Everyone knows I hate the cold and it hates me. That was Thanksgiving week and it was their first snow, but clearly it's happened several times. Since then I go no further than Miami for reunions after November 1.
It sure was early for Houston and other parts of the south to have snow this week.

(86,515 posts)I'm north of the 45th parallel so I expect snow by Halloween, I mean several inches that won't go away. And I have seen the same in New England. And then, I've seen it in the 60s on xmas day in Maine. And 40s in Feb at 7Kft in the Rockies. I like winter, that's why I live here where it's winter half the year, most years.

(8,378 posts)We were supposed to travel about 45 minutes southwest to get a head start on a trip home tomorrow, but no way. We are so fortunate to be warm and safe in a hotel. The secondary roads are packed here, and it's sleeting now. Fortunately, the temps should rise by the morning and turn to rain overnight.
Lots of flights have been canceled as well.
