(6,448 posts)the colors blue and green are peaceful, relaxing colors. That's why TV shows have "green rooms" where guests can relax before going on camera. Those qualities fit us lefties as well.
Colors like red and orange are known to excite people's emotions. That would explain why the Trumpanzees won the White House, yet are still pissed off. Apparently, they hate brown and black skin along with anything lavender. At least (unemployed) Kim Davis does.

Jimmy Carter was a good, decent man who they painted as some kind of incompetent, while pumping Reagen up to be the greatest human being the world has ever know.
Side note - they started there back room dealing with Iran to hold our American citizens hostage longer so that they were not released until Reagen took office ...

I was stuck with 12 straight years of GOP BS, economy, lies, cheating, etc. When Clinton was elected I thought things would get better but the GOP became even worse (my whole life they have been out doing themselves somehow lowering their own bar). So depressing.

(6,549 posts)from Republican voters to being Democrats. They believed that no good could come from electing an actor to the White House. I now add a reality star and used car salesman to their wisdom.

(1,533 posts)One side were from farm families, so I hope they were DFL. The other side was more in the retail/service sector.
One thing that I like about Minnesota is that other than Ike (who carried the entire country) they have only voted once for the Red side since the parties switched identities.

(9,650 posts)Having lost an uncle to Alzheimer's, a dear friend to Alzheimer's, and having done caregiving for Alzheimer's patients, there is never an appropriate joke when it comes to that disease. May you never have to experience the things I have had to deal with when it comes to watching people you love disappear mentally, but still be here physically.

(2,957 posts)A lot more heavily Hispanic and gay friendly. I used to live in SoCal and could see the shift beginning there 20 years ago. It was solidly red then, but the margins of Republican victory were getting smaller.
I have a feeling that a couple of these districts will bounce back red in the next cycle or two. But, the majority will remain blue for the near term.
After Orange County broke off from L.A. County in the late 1800's, conservatives were attracted to it and started moving there over time. But, I think that the growth of tourism, industry and housing drew more and more moderates there from L.A. County and has tipped OC more blue over time.
In spite of the Democratic Reps now repping the whole county at the federal level, all but one of the county's elected officers are still Republican.

Decades ago, I was living in a Detroit suburb, I often heard the "girls" in high school say that all the cool fashions started in California. I would add, progressive thinking is still alive and well.
Brava and Bravo to all.
