Should the new Congress-people who promised to vote against Nancy Pelosi now vote for her?

Even if they wanted to vote for her, would that not hurt them with their new constituency?

Perhaps they should have never made that promise, but they did.

Personally, I do not see it as that big of a deal. There are not that many that actually ran with that promise.

There is no rule that says our leader has to win unanimously. We need to understand the situations of the new Congress-people. It does not mean they are disloyal to the Party.

They should keep their word, that's obvious.

Nancy Pelosi will be Speaker, that's pretty obvious, doesn't mean we need to crap all over these new Dem Congresspeople. Have a discussion, let them voice theirs (And their voter's) concerns and then have a vote. Also, let Pelosi talk to them and let them know even if they keep their word in voting against her that we are 1 team and this will not stop progress.

What shouldn't happen is that these people get steam rolled or shouted down, or that they are forced into breaking their words. There is a solution here for everyone and it's a solution that will strengthen party unity, not weaken it. Listen and discuss, then move forward.

Their constituents may not like Pelosi, but they sure didn't vote for a Republican.

If I were Pelosi, I'd offer to make a deal on the first bill to consider. Infrastructure would be my suggestion, but maybe they'd like something else?

Probably let some of them off the hook and vote against her because it’s more valuable that they win in the future and maintain the trust of their constituents while securing the necessary votes for the Speakership.

This is all just Drama. I have no doubt Nancy Pelosi will be Speaker.

you stay with a proven entity that helped to change the House of Representatives. We have much bigger fish to fry at this juncture in our Nation's History. No time to train a Rookie, you go with the proven Leader.

that if someone changed their mind it would have much effect. What will matter is getting rid of Trump.
Additionally they could always say, " It was either Pelosi or McCarthy, a Republican. I made the correct choice"
