Tonight on Real Time with Bill Maher:

The Interview:

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D) is the U.S. Representative for California’s 15th congressional district and the Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on the CIA. He recently visited Iowa, where he said that the next president should be somebody who can throw a punch, take a punch and bring the country together.

The Panel:

Van Jones is an activist, author, and host of CNN's "The Van Jones Show." He recently spoke about America’s incarceration industry at the Criminal Justice Reform Summit.

Steve Schmidt is a former Senior Advisor to Senator John McCain's 2008 Presidential campaign and a political analyst for MSNBC. He co-hosts the “Words Matter” podcast. Trivia fact: Schmidt was portrayed by Woody Harrelson in the HBO film, Game Change.

Nancy MacLean is a Professor of History and Public Policy at Duke University and author of “Democracy in Chains: The Deep History of the Radical Right’s Stealth Plan for America.”

Mid-Show Interview:

Garry Kasparov is a Russian pro-democracy activist, former world chess champion, and co-author of "Fight for Liberty: Defending Democracy in the Age of Trump."

That has made him really bad at the latter. Sad, because I always though he'd be good at it.

him, I guess. He also exaggerates the fake laugh almost as much as Fallon whenever he has anyone on who's remotely funny. It's kinda embarrassing to watch. I liked him better back when. Obama fired him. Which was a really dumb move at the time.

for Van Jones' tolerance of republucans. It was just a suggestion. I didn't want to know more about Jared so I ignored him and typed into my cellphone until the interview was winding up.

politely returned the suggestion. Criticism is not intolerance. It's criticism. I would hope more people would speak out on traitorous nepotism twerps who are way in over their heads. That just seems like common sense. But hey, to each his own.....

Trump voters that he can then share. I don't like the idea of 39% of americans being MAGA cultists. I know some can't be saved. I don't want to save the others for their own good, though that will be a nice side effect, I want to wake them up for the good of the country.

tonight" after managing not to fuck up his canned speech to a Joint Session of Congress. Here's the actual quote:

"He became President of the United States in that moment, period," said Jones, after the evening's most emotional point was replayed by CNN's Anderson Cooper.

"That was one of the most extraordinary moments you have ever seen in American politics," Jones added.

The exchange the group was referring to centered around Trump recognizing Carryn Owens, whose husband Chief Petty Officer William "Ryan" Owens was killed in Yemen.
Noting that he still often disagrees with the President, Jones admitted that Trump's powerful moment shows he may be settling into the role.

"If he finds a way to do that over and over again, he's going to be there for eight years," Jones said.
Moments after Jones' remarks, Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke to Cooper, and had this to say: "I find myself in agreement with Van Jones, for the first time in my political life."

Give me a goddamned break. Her husband was killed in Yemen because of bullshit intelligence & Il Douche wanted to look more macho than Obama, who refused to order the raid because of the bullshit intelligence.
