The unyielding support of Pelosi

Some people seem extremely committed to Nancy Pelosi becomming speaker. I have no preference one way or the other who becomes speaker of the house as long as that person pushes hard left and doesn't start at the middle. I do have a couple questions, though:

1. People keep saying she masterminded the midterms and can take responsibility for the great outcome. Can someone explain why this is the case? Beyond the standard answer of fundraising, what exactly did she do?

2. If she was responsible for last Tuesday, was she not responsible for the losses in 2010? 2014? She was speaker then, as well.

She’ll probably be speaker and that’s fine. She did alright with the end of the Bush and first part of the Obama administration and the ACA, it didn’t go far enough in my opinion, but it’s still a good thing.

Pelosi has demonstrated for years an ability to keep her (raucous) Democratic caucus in line. It doesn't make sense to replace her at this critical time. Republicans want her replaced because she is effective.

Pelosi organized the national message that Democrats would run on in 2018. That message was to ignore the caravan and focus on health care. She also allowed some Dems to keep their distance from her (by "allow" I mean she agreed not to attack them). It worked.

Maybe he's lying. Doesn't matter. Seems like it would be helpful to make some concession to Berni supporters. Based on my personal experience, the number of young people energized by that old guy's message was impressive. I think going in that direction would be energizing. I bet the raucous caucus would follow.

Just curious if there's evidence of this? This sounds more like a talking point than anything else.

They didn’t lose big in 2010 because they did nothing. They lost because of Obamacare. A program that expanded insurance coverage for millions of Americans. Their agenda pissed off right wingers who came out in droves to vote against blacks and women who were running the country.

So ... yes, she gets blamed for the 201O loss as does Obama. Some things (expanded Medicaid, elimination of pre-existing conditions, subsidized insurance, no-co-pays for breast exams and colonoscopies, plus stimulus, Wall Street Reform) are WORTH LOSING FOR.

We need to keep pushing liberal agenda and not worrying about losing. RWRs in Arizona, Idaho, Utah have all passed expanded Medicaid. That’s Nancy Pelosi’s going, 8 years after her defeat.
