Listening to Joy Reid's interview with Justice Alan Page is kind of heart breaking

After receiving the 'Medal of Freedom', trump* didn't even take the time to talk with him. Just kind of moved on.

Judge Page seems to remain puzzled as to why he was even selected.

Oh, and trump* didn't read his introduction. Didn't he read the one for Babe Ruth? The guy who did read it used a very monotone voice.

Perhaps he didn't look at any photos? Everyone else on the list was pretty much what I would expect from trump*

they get to deny being racists (see, we gave a one to a black man, too!) while displaying their unequal treatment in favor of white people.

He was a respected justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court for more than 20 years, but before that he had a noteworthy career as a professional football player. He was appointed to the 3-judge panel that heard Norm Coleman's election contest, which Al Franken won. Page's foundation has done some very good work for minority education. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Page But notwithstanding Page's distinguished career(s), I suspect he was just used as a token so Trump could say he gives the award to black people too.

Alan Page is a remarkable man. He has represented Minnesota proud on and off the field. He has made a lasting impact in the community.

My thought was that his nomination was a token one. Page is a man of great honor and integrity while Trump is a schmuck..

sure looks like this was a Tokenism stunt. Like many who have lived in the Twin City Metro, and had Kids involved in Youth Sports, you most likely had Allen Page and other Sports Notables at Banquets and fund raisers . As well as award Ceremonies and High School Graduations.

The Man is the real deal, always positive and never negative. What a role model.

He was a menber of one of the most fearsome defensive lines ever assembled in pro football, probably the only D-Lines better were the 72/73 Miami Dolphins and the Steel Curtain Pittsburg Steeler D-Line.

And during the offseason, Page worked toward his law degree.

who deserve to be run out of town, and no doubt to Trump Justice Page and others are just extras thrown in. Justice Page probably knows he deserves it but that the overall ceremony is very unseemly. Trump probably met his worst expectations.

Someone suggested his name and Trump said, "OK." As long as he can give Scalia and Adelson the medal, the rest doesn't concern him. Alan Page accepted that honor, but probably considered not doing so. He's still mourning the death of his wife. Shortly after he died, Page stood on the sidelines of the Twin Cities Marathon and played his sousaphone, as he had done before. The guy's in mourning for his wife. Trump has no idea who Alan Page is, nor why he deserves that medal. He'll never know.

who had some notable accomplishments and who wasn't known as an outspoken liberal. Maybe the minion didn't know that Page had endorsed Hillary and that he contributed to Dean Phillips' campaign for Congress (which Phillips won, beating useless GOPer Erik Paulsen).
