red HOUSE-37

The Democrats met expectations in many seats they were expected to flip, but mostly failed to chalk up surprises. They are, though, in control of the lower chamber, and at last in a position to challenge Donald Trump.

That's what I call "a glass 1/2 empty pronouncement on the Dems.. had to get the word "failed" in there. Key word being "mostly". So there were some "surprises"!

I, for one, was a little bit surprised by all our Dem Wins in the House! Look how close they were and how long it took to count all the votes in some Districts. It's not done until it's over and anything could happen.

The Guardian has a real downer take on our Wins, imo.

Still it was informative and FUN with my own take.. Thank You, Hermit!

P.S. California!

I hadn't read any of their comments on that page -- just had the map in a tab since election night.

"Mostly failed to chalk up surprises"?! That text appears just above a very surprising number of blue hexagons with the heavy black border signifying "flipped"!

Even in the "toss-up" column, it shows 8 red to 18 blue. A toss-up means equal chance, just like a coin toss. Anything other than 13 - 13 in that column has to be a surprise.

Whoever wrote that has to be either RW or a worshipper at the alter of bothsiderism.

I vote for "bothsiderism".. I was thinking it might just be me.. too sensitive after at least 3 years of having Fascist trump&doormats shoved down our gullets And, Finally getting our lives Changed seemingly Overnight(only not really).

Oh yeah, the "tossup column".. There's 8 Surprises right there!

many seats Obama lost in the 2010 election, and Democrats came up short in this cycle; it was worse for Obama than it is for trump; the Blue Wave was just a Blue Stream, and on and on and on and on . . .

It seems every time my NPR station comes on, it's doing National rePublican Radio - and this is the local San Francisco station. I don't know why I even leave my radio pre-set to them any more. Too lazy to set up another station, I guess.

I'm proud of how we continue to do, and will welcome any more pleasant surprises coming our way. Nate McMurray in Western New York's 27th District still is alive against indicted felon Chris Collins, but I'm not sure if he'll eke it out. Why that region would rather elect a guy with 12 counts of corruption and insider trading against him; I'll never figure. Nate McMurray's the real deal.

Broome absentee ballot results expand Brindisi’s lead over Tenney

BROOME COUNTY (WBNG) — A big vote result in Broome County expanding the gap between the two candidates in the race for the 22nd Congressional District race.

Following the absentee and affidavit ballot counts, the Broome County Board of Elections announced Friday Anthony Brindisi gained 2,959 votes, with Claudia Tenney gaining 1,640 votes.

The newest total puts Brindisi at a 122,565-119,422 vote advantage over Tenney– a 3,143 vote gap.

I was so bummed when I thought they still had a repub and it was a done deal.. but I accidently found out the Dem Anthony Brindisi is now in the lead when I googled "Claudia Tenney" to see when her term is up.. thinking maybe 2019?.. lol.

So.. There's HOPE for my old District.. where I have a lot of great Democratic Friends!

I guess it takes longer.

That District used to be #24 when I was there from 1998 to 2010 & then Re-Districting.

Where I lived, in Little Falls, NY is a small city on the Mohawk River and Erie Canal. Very picturesque but Frigid in the winter at the base of the Adirondacks. Brr.

District 22 and State Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi at this late date.

Anthony Brindisi (born November 22, 1978) is an American politician, attorney, and Democratic New York State Assembly member from Utica, New York who represents New York's 119th Assembly District. Prior to his election to the Assembly in 2011, Brindisi served on the Utica School Board and practiced as an attorney.

On June 28, 2017, Brindisi announced he would seek the Democratic nomination in the race for the 22nd Congressional District of New York in 2018.

Cold Winters up there by the Erie Canal! I was only there for 12 years and they were some of the best years!

Best of Luck to both, Nate MacMurray and Anthony Brindisi

That's true.. my Blue Dog Congressman, Michael Arcuri, District 24, in New York, lost his seat after he voted for ACA(Healthcare!). In the big Hate Machine 2010.. courtesy of rw and purity stay-at-homers.

Maybe you keep on NPFR because they used to be Fair and you keep hoping for a return of reality radio from that source. Shame on them by the way.

Thanks for the current status on Nate McMurray, Bachers!

I just looked up my old District in New York.. It's now District 22 and is Rep by a trump Claudia Tenney.

Oh wait.. I just saw this!
