Broken Trump Babbles The Same Words At California Fires That He Uses At Every Disaster

Broken Trump Babbles The Same Words At California Fires That He Uses At Every Disaster

Trump repeated his talking points about law enforcement while visiting no victims of the California wildfires.

Trump said, “So the federal government is behind you, we’re all behind each other. I think we can truly say that. Jerry and I have been speaking, and Gavin and I have gotten to know each other, and we’re all going to work together and do a real job. In is very sad to see. As far as the lives are concerned, nobody knows quite yet. They’re up to a certain number, but we have a lot of people that aren’t accounted for. This is the kind of destruction — in fact, they’re telling me this is even not as bad as some areas. Some areas are even beyond this, they’re just charred. So the one thing we have, we have the greatest people in the world looking at helping the first responders, FEMA. FEMA has been incredible. Law enforcement always, they never let us down. So we are here and, Kevin, thank you very much for the job you’ve done and the support you’ve given in Washington. And, Kevin, anything we can do, you know we’re here. You just bring it over to the office, right? You know that.”

Trump has used the same language after hurricanes where he goes somewhere, stands beside a few local politicians, praises FEMA and law enforcement, visits no victims, and then runs home.

It is the same tired template after national tragedy or disaster. Trump is even repeating the same words over and over again. The only thing that changes is the backdrop.

This isn’t leadership.

Trump can’t go on Twitter and threaten to deny disaster relief to California while blaming the state for poor management of federal lands, but then show up for the cameras and repeat his stale talking pointing while expecting anyone to believe him or care.

Donald Trump has been broken by midterms and the Russia investigations. He looked and sounded like he could care less about the thousands of people still missing after the fires.

America would be better served if Trump stopped wasting their money by going through the motions when he does not care.

I've tried to figure it out and I just can see absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I couldn't stand GW Bush, but I have to admit he had a folksy charm that some people fell for. Reagan was a persuasive speaker and played a convincing president on camera. Trump totally lacks any charisma or talent and physically is repulsive, yet millions of people adore him.

Of course, this mofo isn't normal by any measure - but all he would have to do is observe that the destruction is terrible and tragic; offer concern and sympathy for the victims; thank the first responders; and promise that the federal government will provide all the help and resources needed to recover. A normal president would also make a point of meeting directly with victims and their families (preferably not using them for a photo op and definitely not giving the thumbs-up sign).

What a normal person would not do is blame some local officials or agencies for the disaster.

would instinctively know how to ad-lib an appropriate response. Trump's problem isn't so much that he's lived his life in a wealthy bubble; it's that he lacks empathy and has no clue how to deal with situations where people are suffering. That's because he really doesn't give a damn about other people's suffering.

When Trump's natural instincts kick in, they are the instincts of a self-absorbed opportunist. That apparently worked out for him in the business community, but doesn't translate well to presidential obligations.

Trump is a "Nice guys finish last" person and "Its not my problem". Empathy and compassion are like a foreign language to him.

it costs plenty of tax payer dollars. Just so he can show up in pristine workboots and a casual shirt and windbreaker. He mouths the same meaningless phrases, hobnobs with local and state leaders (like they are all best buds), looks around and shakes his pumpkin head and then hops back on AF1 and calls it a day.

This costs millions of dollars because he always takes an entourage and the press corps. There are security concerns that also cost a lot. All so he can show up and say, ‘Ain’t it a shame?” This he says after trashing everyone and his dog. The people impacted by the disaster ought to just not attend these mini-rallies. But they know you gotta play the game. Smile like you like it.
