(26,727 posts)The facts as we know them to date leave open the possibility that he was set up... but not that there was no incident. There is at least a real woman with bruises who claimed to police that he caused them... and was at least credible enough that they escorted her to his apartment to retrieve her things.

(6,843 posts)The "real" woman is a totally unrelated photo.

(26,727 posts)I'm well aware that someone on the internet used a totally unrelated photo and claimed that it was the supposed victim.
Was that photo released by the police? You know... the ones who announced that "the victim had visible injuries"?
That's the problem with the whole "the whole thing is fiction" spin. Police don't arrest someone on an anonymous tip with a reused internet photo attached.
It's possible that someone paid a woman to seduce him, move in with him, and then fake her own abuse and call the cops. But it isn't possible that it's just some internet hoax and there isn't even a real person involved. The police would have to be in on it in that case... and that's a conspiracy theory too far.

(26,727 posts)They're so stupid that they would open themselves up to the easiest false arrest charge ever?
Too woo for my taste. Thanks anyway.

https://www.newsweek.com/stormy-daniels-ohio-arrest-was-planned-whistleblower-claims-1043604The arrest of adult film star Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was planned months before she ever arrived in Columbus, Ohio, emails obtained from a whistleblower appear to show. Daniels alleges she had an affair with now-President Donald Trump in 2006.
Emails obtained from the Columbus Police department by the Fayette Advocate appear to show that the police department was aware of Daniels' scheduled strip club appearance in the town and had been planning a "sting" operation for the night of her show.
Columbus police arrested the adult film star on July 12, claiming Daniels had violated an Ohio law by "touching" club-goers, who were in fact undercover vice officers. The charges were dismissed within hours after Daniels hired Columbus defense attorney Chase Mallory.
The Advocate said it was contacted by a whistleblower from the City of Columbus, who sent the news outlet a number of emails including news clippings discussing Daniels' scheduled appearance, as well as pictures of her with Trump and videos of her dancing.

(26,727 posts)It was reportedly a sting - so of course the police were involved. The charges weren't dismissed because some lawyer was hired... they were dismissed because the law didn't apply to a "performer" from out of town.
What possible connection are you implying in this case? Some female cop hit on him so that he would invite her to move in with him... then she could hit herself in the face and blame him? What would a sting even look like in this situation?
Let's make sure we're all got this clear. Avenatti says that the LAPD were hard working professionals who "had no option in light of the allegations"... but you say that they did have a choice but arrested him anyway because they were "in on it"???
Got it.

(45,056 posts)I said the police "had a choice but arrested him anyway because they were "in on it"??? ? I'll wait right here.
I pointed out that the police will set people up and provided an article about that very thing. I said nothing about Avenatti. Reading seems to be a skill rarely used anymore as is politeness.

(26,727 posts)Is there anything at all to connect the photo (apart from some RW post online) to the accusations?
Do you really think that the police would arrest him based on an anonymous accusation with a faked photo?
