They just bought Fred's pharmacy stores, the lowest priced place to buy prescriptions.around here.
They now own all the pharmacies in our little town but 2...Wal-Mart and a private local drug store.
(Wal-Mart has reduced its cheap generic drug offerings by 2/3.)
Walgreens has faced numerous lawsuits for discrimination in hiring,
*and for violations of the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and the False Claims Act regarding Medicaid beneficiaries ,
*and for violating RICO laws re: price fixing.
* fined 80 million for dispensing massive amounts of oxycodone.
Wal-Greens charges more than twice the going price for drugs. .
Since we are 40 miles from the interstate on-ramp, then 90 minutes from any large city ( think Mobil, or Montgomery)
Walgreens has a captive customer population in all the small rural towns.
Anyone have good experiences with online drug stores?

(10,749 posts)I used Canadadrugs.com for a couple of years, but they shut down a little while ago. I started looking at prices from various pharmacies in my area and came across goodRX.com. Go to the site, type in the drug youre looking for and all the details, and it will tell you what the prices are from the various pharmacies in your area. That includes, of course, the big ones, as well as the pharmacies at grocery stores, Walmart, target, etc.
As it turned out, one of the drugs I get was $30 cheaper from a local pharmacy with the good RX pricing than it was from Canada. I saved another $20 per prescription for another medication by transferring from cvs to a local grocery store pharmacy, and I just saved another $30 per prescription by transferring another prescription to that same grocery store, also from cvs.
And all of these prices are less than the co-pay I wouldve had if I used my insurance coverage.

Click the "Drug Pricing" tab at the top of the web page linked just above to check prices for that program.
These prices are available at almost all pharmacies, and often independent pharmacies show lower prices on both programs. Good luck!
ETA: Also try Canadian pharmacies.....same drugs, lower prices.
