"Its impossible to understand the Democratic rebellion against Nancy Pelosi without understanding the way power works in the House of Representatives. To understand the self-serving men behind this rebellion, heed the words of the late screenwriter William Goldman: Follow the money.
There is discontent with Pelosis ideology on the left, and thats understandable. But ideology is not driving this campaign, and this is no populist rebellion. In fact, its leaders have no discernible ideology at all.
Thats how corporate money rolls in the Democratic Party. It lays low, hides its true colors, and pretends it only wants to get things done.
The anti-Pelosi insurgency is not a movement. Its a cabal, ..."

Moulton isnt the only member of the five-man anti-Pelosi band, of course. The rhythm section is composed of Colorados Ed Perlmutter, Oregons Kurt Schrader, and Bill Foster of Illinois. The three men have received $4,082,803, $987,050, and $2,747,969 respectively from the FIRE sector. Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio, who mounted a longshot challenge to Pelosi in 2016, is the bands other leaderthe Keith Richards, if you will, to Moultons would-be Jagger.

Yeah, I think the plan is to slot Steny Hoyer in - some fresh face - a year older than Pelosi!
And btw, anti-choice Stephen Lynch-MA signed this letter, he should not be getting off scot-free.
Nancy Pelosi is not the Speaker of the House, we are screwed. We are talking about 2 years with a woman who knows how to play the game and can take it to trump. How many months with a new Speaker need to get up to speed?
I'm really pissed off about this.

(42,862 posts)Oh, I doubt they care... it's all a very Susan Sarandonesque way to "send a message" of vanity and privilege and revenge... settling old-scores, etc. Sadly, that message is one that perpetuates distrust, resentment and division. It only serves to WEAKEN our party. A divided and weakened Democratic party ONLY benefits the GOP (and by extension, it also benefits Russia.)
And, uh... while I'm on the subject... FUCK SUSAN SARANDON!

(7,142 posts)Let's look at the rebels in the Republican House, the Tea Party or as they are now called the Freedumb caucus.
What have these radicals accomplished in the Republican House? They accomplished tying the hands of John Boehner and Paul Ryan. Republicans had the majority but because of these right wing radicals no Bills got passed. The repeal of Obamacare failed what, 60 times? We should actually thank the Freedumb caucus for tying up right wing legislation.
I just have a simple question, is this what we want in the Democratic House? Do we really want to do what Republicans decided to do the day after Barack Obama was elected president, make everything political, or do we want to try make American's lives better through legislation?

I'm on the left and I would prefer the Speaker be more progressive...but none of the people challenging Pelosi are that.

(4,012 posts)The Democratic Party has been infiltrated by the very same forces that long ago took over the GOP. It's only a difference of degree as to the extent of the infiltration imo.
