Sadly, nothing will ever come of this Ivanka email issue. Why?

Because the earth has already been salted.

It's the same exact scenario that followed Hillary's husband.

Bill Clinton was impeached on the most ludicrous, absurd and frivolous of grounds.

Deep in their hearts, most Americans realized what a ridiculous sham the Clinton impeachment was.

The problem was despite all that, the Republicans were still successful in turning the notion of impeachment from a sacred measure of extreme unction, not to be trifled with unless it was a matter of exigent circumstances that truly warranted it, into a cheap political tool to sully an opposing party's President's name.

So when Bush sent us into a completely unnecessary war based on bad intelligence, there was no way Democrats would realistically consider impeachment, because they'd just be accused of trying to get payback over Clinton.

Hell, it will probably take a special counsel's report finding a president's collusion with a foreign adverse power (i.e. treason for all intents and purposes) for there to even be a sporting chance at impeachment and removal of Trump. No way could we go into impeachment over, say, the Emoluments clause violations or any other more domestic related scandals at this point.

So it follows as to any issues regarding unsecured communications. Republicans beat the Hillary email server issue to death even after the FBI found there was no criminal intent or leak of classified information. I truly think most Americans believe deep in their heart, the Hillary email investigation was way overblown.

However, that also makes any investigations about unsecured communications more or less DOA because it will be framed as Democrats simply getting their payback over the Hillary investigation. And this not only affects Ivanka (which could be written off as being more or less the same as Hillary), but the far more severe implications of use of an unsecured cellphone by Donald Trump and what Russia and China may have gained from that use.

It's a damn shame, but it's been set up that way.

As to what will happen, we shall know more in January. Maybe this will quiet down some of the yammering mob chants of "Lock her up!"

of hearings and the email is just one small blip. Using position in govt to solicit business and loans crosses many ethical and legal lines and with a GOP no longer shielding the trumps, we will see a lot of the dirty laundry exposed.

What is the House going to do about it? The 40% Trumpites will cheer them for standing up to the man.

The reichwing propaganda network will not make a thing of it. They will not get on every new-related TV show to pound on it for years. They will not rile people up. They will do the opposite - they will pooh-pooh the whole idea and insult Democrats for "trying to make a big deal over nothing."

Democrats don't have the hysterical vicious gene so nothing will come of it. It will be the usual thing: Democrats did something rather mild, rethugs go crazy and their whole decrepit forest is full of cackles and caws. Then, when one of their own does something similar, everything goes quiet. Well, except for the so-called liberal media moaning about both sides doing it.

At the absolute WORST what Hillary did was “bad judgement” that cause harm to nothing. the FBI backs that up NO MATTER HOW HARD they tried to find a crime.

But the law was changed to tight up email control ok and Ivanka broke it. Hard to buy “playing dumb” since email security was literally the central tenant of her dads campaign.

Lock her up!!!

The FOIA Improvement Act of 2016 amends
Section 3102 of the Federal Records Act, 44
U.S.C. § 3102, to include a requirement that
agencies establish “procedures for identifying
records of general interest or use to the public
that are appropriate for public disclosure, and
for posting such records in a publicly
accessible electronic format.”

Very clear that government agencies get to decide what gets deleted, not the user. This was put in specifically in response to Hillary's lawyers deleting emails.
