Im getting a male and female heirloom turkey pair this spring,. not for eating, but for petting.

this will sound stupid, but ive always wanted a pet turkey. Ive always loved them and thought they were adorable

19. Do they lay eggs?

My sister and best friend both have chickens. I have an issue with eggs. Ever since I was a little girl and learned what they really are, they gross me out. Theirs are not fertilized, so I do use them for baking, but I still can’t enjoy an omelette unless it’s made with fake eggs. (I have issues with most meat, too. I’m an animal lover.)
Anyway, chickens aren’t especially friendly, even when raised from an egg, but they do eat bugs and since we all have very large gardens and try to stay away from pesticides, they are useful, and then there are the eggs. They keep pushing me to get chickens! So I’m wondering... Are turkeys generally friendly? Do they give eggs? I certainly wouldn’t eat them, so why do you have 10? Would it be a good thing to have instead of the chickens?
