1. I am only 3 or 4 counties south of blizzard warnings, and it hit 60 at 10:00 this morning

It is down below 50 now, and the wind is blowing like mad. Very typical local conditions in my neck of the woods before serious wintery weather. Stay safe!

That Kansas wind must be howling! Not sure I’ve heard of I70 closing that Far East.

Snowing like crazy here in metro KC area. Very windy.

Stay safe, folks!

4. I'm so glad I don't have to drive through Kansas anymore.

Kansas Turnpike and I are on intimate terms. Since my mother passed on I have no reason to drive to Omaha anymore through Kansas.

BUT NOT IN TOPEKA (not ever again). It is a white out out here, I just got in from doing barn work. It is brutal on your fingers but not really too bad cold wise. The wind is howling and has been for hours and at this moment I cannot see across the road . It has been a long time since we had something like this. This is nothing compared to what we used to have every winter and I am happy to see it again. I can't remember the last time we had more than a dusting of snow. In fact the last dusting was almost in June last spring so this is nice, as it should be, but there are a lot of drivers here who have never driven in anything like this. I am glad I do not have a rehearsal today.

Fortunately, and at least so far, we are not in for a Blizzard. My part of the state could get 3 to 6" but just north of us could get over 8. Maybe the kids will have an extended holiday.

8. These kinds of storms are usually more frequent in the late winter/ early spring

they bounce to the Oklahoma panhandle suck moisture and bounce north and east. In the Winter they usually take a more northerly direction through Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. As it gets warmer the in late winter the track goes more southerly through Missouri and central to possibly southern Illinois and Indiana.

I am in SE Iowa and we are getting nailed right now, but it looks like the worst part is headed south.

Thank goodness.

One weather forecaster used to call these storms an "Oklahoma Hooker" as it would hit the Oklahoma panhandle and hook back north.
