Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Sunday that he is confident that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will be elected as next Speaker, and that she is the right person for the job.
"I'm very confident she is going to have the votes that she needs, and, even more, that she is the right person for the job right now," Schiff said on CNN's "State of the Union."
A handful of Democrats in the House have said they plan to oppose Pelosi, but she can afford to lose up to 18 votes in the party and still be elected Speaker. There is currently no one who has announced a bid against her.
Schiff also said Sunday that Democrats "don't want to go into" the next Congress without Pelosi as their leader.
"We don't want to go into this very challenging time, where everything is on the line for the country, where the rule of law is on the line, where people's health care is on the line, without the best tactician, without the best organizer to keep our caucus together," he said.

His endorsement should help Nancy pull the party together

Along with the 20-some other Democratic ranking members soon to be chairpersons/leaders, I would say Pelosi's critics don't know what the hell they're talking about.
