(945 posts)...but it seems like CNN is obsessed with trying to normalize Trump voters and people who vote against their best interests. They even do it when they have panels on their shows.
I know this episode isn't about politics, but we've been here before. Kamau Bell has done this region on CNN, and so has Soledad O'Brien.

(4,602 posts)Im sure they have an interesting food culture. Thats all the show needs.

(89,247 posts)and he was going to present people he eats with in a positive way anywhere since that's the type of show it was.
I have a bigger problem with the stupid panels and other crap they do in their regular reporting.

(41,959 posts)We can know people and enjoy them without giving up our ideals or giving in to yhevthings we disagree with, even hate, about theirs.
If we refuse to interact with curiosity and respect for the things we can respect about them, how can we live in the world without either having to be the oppressed or the oppressor?

(41,959 posts)Ive had too many conservativevrelatives and treated too many diverse people not to know most-not all-have interesting or good qualities. That doesnt mean you can let them do whatever they want but it doesnt mean you have to damn them either.

(130,864 posts)Fortunately I haven't had (or don't know I've had) such relatives, and have no such 'friends.' But I think I like people in the abstract, (except cheney and trump,) and can't bring myself to do the condemning that goes on so much (lots of it around here, too.)

(58,724 posts)How are they not covering what is going on at the border right now?
elleng
(130,864 posts)It might help.
There is literally major news happening right now at the border (and internationally).

(130,864 posts)I don't watch daytime tv, so don't know what they covered.
Their programming seems to allow for 'emergency' coverage; weekend nights they recently have Bourdain marathons, interspersed with emergencies.

(6,390 posts)But lets be realistic. No one is watching much news right now, most are traveling home. Tomorrow is when you will see more about it with endless panels of screaming people.
Unless of course, Dump does something else that's crazy...

(58,724 posts)Man, I remember when it used to just be two people yelling at each other.

(7,510 posts)But I have watched about half of this season. I can only do it when I am in a certain frame of mind but even then I can't help asking, "why"? He just had so much more to contribute and we need people like him so much right now. Maybe he felt that and it was to much for him.
