There is a danger in Trump's border policy we should not overlook ..

The danger is that he will be able to sell it to many Americans beyond his base.

If he sees a political opportunity in the present demonstration on the border, he will take advantage .

The media must be careful not to become a tool for anti-immigrant propaganda .

that I am becoming inured to what he does and it really worries me. I think the question we and the media should be asking every day is "how bad does it have to get before we act?" And then I think, well, I'm a 72 year old woman with serious back problems...I'm not going to be on the front lines anymore. Who will be?

When I was a young woman, I was a part of the student organizing committee for the "Dump Johnson" movement. I remember being a part of a meeting with Allard Lowenstein and John Kenneth Galbraith in the summer of 1967. They told us to go back to our campuses and organize. We did and when Johnson resigned I felt empowered because I knew that I had had an impact in my little corner of the world. I don't feel that anymore and it makes me very sad.

fully adjusted to it. Even those who are changing it don't really know all the effects.

Note that large parts of the planet are reverting to authoritarian rule, as if it's an unending cycle. We try liberal democracy for a while, then go back to authoritarianism. Rinse... repeat... Neither way will ever be "perfect" but we keep looking in the same dark corners.

We'll miss the next cycle, and I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Has moved on from that story. I’m seriously realizing how big of a problem the media has become by failing to report the crimes against humanity perpetrated by trump on a level it should be covered.
