(100 posts)outbreak had been using the irrigation ditch water to "wash" the romaine and that their version of triple washing involved washing the romaine in the same nasty water three times. I question whether companies may have returned to some of those old policies thinking that they could get away with it under Trump.
Lack of sanitary facilities for the pickers, antibiotic over-use in livestock and the resultant run-off, all-around bad practices, and lack of water testing have certainly put us all in a highly unsafe situation.

(112,128 posts)but the CDC guidance doesn't provide any proof that the outbreak is related to contaminated irrigation water. Dr. Gu's hypothesis would hold more credibility if there were clinical studies to support it or at least scientific studies indicating that the amount of fecal matter in the irrigation water has increased.
I regret if it sounds like a doubting Thomas, but as someone with a minor in chemistry, the doctor hasn't met the standard of proof for his allegations.

(112,128 posts)because someone with a questionable reputation posts a questionable hypothesis on Twitter makes me a denialist?
No, I don't live in Egypt. However, I would have never passed those 46 hours of science classes as an undergrad if I didn't ask questions and evaluate scientific research. Maybe the doctor is correct and maybe he isn't, but just because he has an "MD" after his name doesn't mean he is an authority on the subject or that he has proven a cause-and-effect relationship.
If there is no proof to the doctor's statements, then simply state so--there is nothing to be gained by calling me names or making personal attacks. If there is proof, then feel free to post a link to it.

Whoever is the next POTUS will have to clean up the GOP messes AGAIN! And of course without getting or taking any credit for it.
