I've been a fan of this man since I was a kid in Oktibbeha County, MS.
AL surprised us this year. Let's hope MS can do so too.

(4,066 posts)Let's take a look at facts. MS is a very racist, misogynistic state. They still fight to keep the Confederate battle flag on their state flag. They went for Trump by almost 18 points.
What makes people think they don't LIKE her racism and misogyny? All of that may be just what they want.

If Republicans want to quit being accused of being racist, GOP operative Amanda Carpenter said on CNN this past weekend, they need to stop saying racist things. But thats proven to be a particular challenge in the age of Trump, when eager imitators like Ron Monkey This Up DeSantis and Hyde-Smith discover that the president is the only one who gets off scot-free with repulsive bigotry.

I also don't think a lot of Southern Republicans really want to stop being accused of being racist. Maybe in public for elections. Not really in private though.

I lived in Oxford for several years (never followed college football, so don't hold that against me).

(7,603 posts)Including me. It was my first constructive bit of activism after absorbing and then putting aside the disappointment of a blue wave that mostly avoided the Sunshine state. A win would be a huge boost and a close contest would help sustain our momentum for the defenestration of Public Enemy Number 1.
