I hate to seem dense... and please forgive the language...

It is said that the Ryan VP candidacy could hurt congressional candidates down ballot because those candidates might somehow be associated with Ryan's unpopular budget.

The fear is that voters could get some crazy idea that Republican congressional candidates might in some way support the Ryan budget.

Excuse me for being dense, but...

235 House Republicans and 40 GOP Senators, 98 fucking percent of all Republicans in Congress, VOTED FOR the fucking Ryan budget.

In 2012. Like, a few months ago. On TV.

that closely and had no who Ryan was or what his plan was. By selecting him as his running mate, Romney placed a very bright spotlight on it. Now everyone who watches the news at all knows what the Republican Party is really about. Why do you think John Sununu is so pissed off? This isn't supposed to come out until after Republicans are elected and most Americans aren't paying attention and it's too late to stop them.

Ten percent of Americans in August approve of the job Congress is doing, tying last February's reading as the lowest in Gallup's 38-year history of this measure. Eighty-three percent disapprove of the way Congress is doing its job.

10% approval!!!

So, Romney chose a controversial member of a Congress with a horrible approval rating by the American people, perhaps because of the vote you sited. Not very smart.

that Romney picked the guy who wrote the bill they voted for.

If they were so worried about facing the voters after voting to end medicare they could always have—just throwing out a wild idea here—not voted to end medicare in the first place.

It's surreal.

the fall in line pressure from people like Boehner, McConnell, and Grover Norquist. Those folks threaten those who don't fall in line with finding candidates to run against them in the primary, essentially threatening their seats in Congress. If they want the chance of keeping their seats, they are forced to vote in line and then go home to face angry voters.

This stuff has little to do with what voters want and everything to do with the fear of being primaried by a handful of billionaires.

I don't know if that party is run by ten people or a hundred people... but it's way under a thousand. And they control all federal government spending.

Most political talk is just a purposeful distraction on the politician's part, they do it to pretend like they're actually doing something besides taking bribes.
