9. The Gillette Fusion five blade refills grew quite expensive a few years ago ....

and the quality decreased. I noticed many guys stopped shaving every day.

I started to see advertisements for old style razors that used a double edged blade so I decided to try that method once again. Since that style razor was what I used when I first started shaving it was easy for me. I did nick myself frequently when I first started until I relearned to apply only very light pressure.

Now I hear the quality of those five blade monsters from Gillette has improved considerably but I have no interest in going back to that style of shaving. I honestly believe I get a better shave with the old style razors most people consider outdated and obsolete. I can buy 100 DE blades for $10 and each blade is good for at least 3 shaves and sometimes up to 5 or 6.

12. If you store that razor (any razor for that matter) in baby oil

Like, a half inch in the bottom of a cup and razor goes in head down, that blade will last much longer.
I stored a twin blade disposable that way and it was still sharp after 2 months.

It's not the shaving that dulls it. It's the water that 'rusts' the edge. The oil lifts everything out of the blades and keeps it dry. Now, keep in mind, every two weeks you WILL have to change the oil cause there's so much gunk thst floats to the surface, but I gurantee that blade will be sharp as the day you bought it for at least 8 weeks .

15. I may give that idea a try. ...

However the double edged blades like the Astras only cost 10 cents apiece and if I get 5 shaves 2 cents per shave. I do remove the blade from the razor after I shave, rinse it and wipe it down with a microfiber cloth.

My son in law uses one of those five blade monstrosities so I will mention your idea to him also.
