Because, until now, no one thought such a thing was possible. The main reason the 9/11 attacks succeeded was the element of surprise -- everyone "knew" how hijackings went, and they were expecting any hijacked plane would simply be flown to a friendly nation and hostage negotiations would proceed from there. The minute it became clear that those hijackings were suicide missions, the rules changed, as United 93 made clear. If tomorrow, a bunch of terrorists were to start brandishing box cutters and demanding control of an aircraft, they'd get jumped by every passenger on board.

So it is with elections. No one thought a foreign power could meddle sufficiently to swing an election, so no one was concerned about a candidate cutting a deal with them to do so. Now, that's changed. Even if the current White House is inclined to turn a blind eye to any malfeasance (because they'd be the ones committing it), you can be the Justice Department and intelligence services would be following every step, and it would become public news straightaway.

... did such collusion was a republican?

Nothing, nothing at all as long as reThugs won't vote to remove (not just impeach) the president.

Red Don can screw a goat in the middle of time square bucket naked and as long as he says he's against abortion and he makes sure rich people don't pay their fair share the KGOP is fine with it.

I do agree with Rev Al; the democratic party will have to put something on the line to make the current culture in the KGOP pay.

Vote to cut funding of everything, turn out the lights and go home to constituents for 6 months straight until the KGOP gets rid of Red Don.

F**K IT !!

They can run campaign style rallies all day or do some ... more ... outreach to communities of color that aren't voting in high enough numbers etc.

While the whole world is crashing around the KGOP the DNC can sure up their base ... I don't know.

The founding fathers never thought we'd vote in a congress that doesn't give a damn and wanted to work with folk like the Russians

And someone in his party is already doing things with other countries like undermining his trade talks with countries now unknown to him? Maybe more than one also . Is he going to get a taste of his own medicine soon?
