As one who greatly values history for its ability to direct the future, please consider watching

this video posted in Video & Multimedia on the origins of deep racism in the South and its evolution to modern day Charleston, SC church massacre. The Scottish and Scotch-Irish heritage of the South is probably something a lot of people vaguely realize, but this BBC documentary really puts it into context in the rise of the KKK and modern day racism/white nationalism. If we are going to change (fight the movements seeking racial strife) we have to understand it. Take just short of an hour to watch this BBC-Scotland documentary:

I had no idea of what you've written.
I'm 100% Northern European, to my chagrin, but no Scots or Irish. English, yes.
