Search warrants obtained by CBS 17 on Tuesday revealed the suspect, Jorge Luis Valencia Lamadrid, 51, is the father of the 21-year-old victim.
According to the warrant, witnesses told police that the victim had been drinking heavily throughout the day before the physical and verbal confrontation that led to the shooting occurred.
Lamadrid told police that his family had just sat down to have Thanksgiving dinner when two of his sons got into an argument about athletes taking a knee during the national anthem, warrants show.
The victim became confrontational with his older brother and it was at that point that Lamadrid told his 21-year-old son to leave the house. Soon after telling his son to leave the home, the confrontation between his two children became physical and he tried to step in, but was not strong enough to keep his sons separated, he told police.

Family. That's what Thanksgiving and Christmas are all about. There's no place like home for the holidays! Guns, politics, alcohol and hatred trumps family values and ends in mayhem. That's America. And people say that the annual showing of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer is the first sign of Holiday season.

There is so much anger on the right, Fox stokes it, Trump and his minions do as well. So much anger, along with lots of firearms lends itself to lots of tragedy.

From the story its impossible to say which family members took which positions. Labelling the whole thing, which ultimately involved an accidental shooting of a belligerent drunk adult, as "Republican family" values seems a bit of a stretch based on what has been disclosed.

Though I'm quite certain you already know all guesses are, by its very definition, stretches.

Well at least he didn't kill him. There is a positive side to this story.
