Political Correctness . . . . some considerations

In the Laws of Manu, there are a few verses on proper speech. Some simplify it into "speak the sweet truth". I think that is what most people think of when talking about being considerate and political correctness.
There are the 2 elements, the "truth" and also the method of delivery "sweet". Those against political correctness are usually thinking about people who will say anything so as not to offend someone.
If a friend asks, "How do I look?"
Some think the "politically correct" answer is "you look fine." or some such derivative. And someone else might tell them they look like crap. Neither of these is proper speech.
The LAW for speech is to:
speak truth, speak it lovingly
don't speak truth unlovingly
don't speak untruth lovingly
this is the eternal law
You are not to avoid the truth just to be a nice to someone, but you are also not suppose to lie. Very simple. I think those ancient scriptures got it right. It's a balancing act. You have to be able to tell the truth, without being mean or harsh.
