Bharara: Most significant issue is if Cohen contradicted Trump's written answers to Mueller

This is perhaps the most significant issue I’ve seen raised so far: does Cohen contradict Trump’s recent written answers to Mueller specifically on the Moscow Trump Tower project. If so and Cohen version is corroborated, Trump is guilty of a false statement.

He was commenting on this tweet from ABC's John Santucci:

NEW - President Trump was asked about the Trump Tower Moscow project among a list of written questions by special counsel Robert Mueller, sources familiar with the president’s responses tell @ABC News. No details about his response.

ok he probably won't get convicted of treason.

W never went to jail for starting a war for no reason and all the people who died from that action.

But, maybe because trump is doing these horrible international things because of his pockets being filled by foreign governments maybe he will go to jail.

But, then cheney never went to prison for getting all that halliburton money for the Iraq war.

3. Not treason, that's a narrow crime. Try espionage.

The recipient of foreign intelligence and not passing it.

Does it fit sedition?

11. What if he passed classified info to Russia? Remember the Oval Office meeting with Lavrov?

Definition of espionage:

Sedition perhaps, for subverting the Constitution. That oath of office meant nothing to him.

12. The problem with that, it seems, is the President has an absolute right

(as some on TV have advanced) to declassify intelligence. That would make sense like in the case of the Cuban Missile Crisis when Kennedy released photographs of missile silos.

If it happened during the campaign and Flynn was involved, maybe. We'll have to wait and see. So much we don't know yet.

10. Caught in a lie, Trump will just say it was his lawyers who screwed up

Yes, you and I remember that he was quite definite that the answers to Mueller's written questions were composed by him and him alone. But you don't understand the context in which he said that. And, uh, that what he really meant to say was that he worked closely with his lawyers on those answers. And, let's see, he was super busy that day and didn't have time to read those answers and they went off without his last, final, olly-olly-oxen-free approval.
