Manafort must be kicking himself.

He decides to lie to Mueller in an attempt to get a pardon out of tRump, only to see that Mueller has plenty of evidence and other sources (like Cohen) that give him the info Manafort could have given him in the first place. Lying for tRump doesn’t change the facts, especially when others have first-hand knowledge of those facts.

As far as that pardon, Manafort already pled guilty to what are in essence state charges that are not subject to a presidential pardon. That means that if tRump does pardon Manafort on the federal charges, Manafort will be hauled into state court and sent back to prison for - most likely - the rest of his life.

More important, why would tRump pardon Manafort now when it’s clear that anything Manafort would lie about to protect tRump can be easily found out through another witness? That would be like agreeing to pay a bribe to someone to keep them from telling your wife that you’re having an affair when she’s already in possesion of a video tape showing you having sex with someone beside her.

1. I think it more likely his lies were to prevent him from implicating Putin puppets and cronies

4. Could Manafort's feeding information back to Trump actually be a triple cross set up by Mueller?

I suppose we will see, depending on how things go for Manafort in the end.

... would pardon them is a fool.

Why on earth would he care if Manafort rots in jail? Hasn't Spanky made is abundantly clear that he doesn't feel any loyalty to anyone?
